Fair Use Policy

FlashcardPro keeps its prices low by being fair to everyone. This policy explains what fair use means. By signing up or paying you agree to it.

1. Your account

An account is for one person. Please don't share your sign-in with others.
A school's subscription covers that school's own students and teachers. It isn't for other schools or for reselling.
A student who signs up on their own is covered as one person. If their school later joins FlashcardPro, they move into the school and the school's subscription covers them.

2. Using the service

FlashcardPro is for studying and teaching. Only add content you have the right to use.
Please don't use scripts, bots or bulk tools to copy the library, create huge numbers of cards or accounts, or overload the site.
Uploads are limited to 25 MB per file. A "Run later" upload can be up to 150 MB and 400 pages in all, sent in parts. We may limit storage or request rates that are far beyond normal classroom use.

3. The AI tools (paid add-on)

Making flashcards from photos and PDFs of notes, suggesting topics and writing multiple-choice answers use an AI service that costs us money for every use. That's why the AI tools are a separate paid add-on with no free trial, and why they have limits:

Daily limit: up to 10 AI uses per person per day (we may change this).
Run later: a reading sent to run later (ready within about a day) costs half as much to us, so it counts half toward your daily and monthly limits. The usage you see shows this. Don't split one job into many to get around the limits.
Monthly limit for a student account: about 250 pages of notes a month (a page is one photo, or one page of a PDF), roughly 8 a day.
Monthly limit for a school: about 3,000 pages of notes a month, shared by all of the school's students and teachers (for example, 250 students at about 12 pages each).
Handwriting, very full pages and asking for more cards use more of the allowance, and short typed pages use less, so the numbers above are good estimates, not promises. Limits reset on the 1st of each month.
When a limit is reached the AI tools pause until it resets. Everything else in FlashcardPro keeps working. If your school needs more, email us and we'll work something out.
AI can make mistakes. Please check the cards it makes before you study from them.

4. If someone misuses FlashcardPro

If use is clearly outside this policy, for example sharing one sign-in with a whole class, automated use, or AI use meant to get around the limits, we may slow it down, pause the AI tools, or suspend the account. We'll tell you first when we can. Your cards are never deleted without notice.
